Case study

XFER

Football players, coaches, clubs, and agents connected on one platform.

XFER is a mobile platform connecting players, coaches, clubs, and agents — discovering talent, showcasing skills, and finding the next opportunity through an interactive map, advanced filtering, and real-time in-app messaging.

Mobile + Web2025Your Game. Your Move.

Overview

From scattered contacts to direct conversations.

Football scouting and transfers traditionally run through agents, personal connections, and messages scattered across different channels. XFER brings that into one app — every user picks a role (player, coach, club, or agent), builds a profile with videos and stats, finds others through the map and advanced filters, and chats directly in-app the moment an opportunity comes up.

Advanced search and filtering by position, age, and location.

An interactive map shows nearby players using device location.

Real-time messaging, with push notifications for new conversations.

Role-specific profiles for players, coaches, clubs, and agents.

Gameplay videos on player profiles, plus the app's own mini video game.

Full localization across 7 languages.

My role

The full mobile product, from zero to the App Store.

Developed under Nordia Digital, where I was CEO and the only developer on the project. I built the Expo/React Native app, the Supabase backend (database, realtime, edge functions, storage), the role system, search, the map, chat, push notifications, and production logic.

For everyone

Each role sees exactly what it needs.

A player builds a profile, adds gameplay videos, and marks themselves as open to offers. Coaches and clubs search players by position, age, and location and reach out directly. Agents track multiple players at once and negotiate signings through the same in-app messages. Thanks to advanced filters and the interactive map, thousands of users find exactly what they need.

Results

Results

XFER now sits on the Google Play Store at a 5.0 rating with hundreds of downloads and a steadily growing user base finding their next opportunity through the app.

Under the hood

Typo-tolerant search — without paying for Algolia.

Instead of an expensive search service like Algolia (roughly $1-2k/month), search is built on PostgreSQL full-text search with pg_trgm trigram similarity and GIN indexes — typo-tolerant, fast, and free. Real-time chat runs on Supabase Realtime, with smart notification suppression when a user is already inside that conversation.
